Job searching application with a Tinder-like swiping feature for selecting jobs previously specified by the user. Swiping left discards the job from the deck of cards whilst swiping right moved the job advertisement into a separate tab where the user can apply for it later. The user logs in through a third-party app using the Firebase authorization. Subsequently, the user selects the job title (or simply inserts the keywords) and enters the job specifications into the appropriate fields. The job advertisements are fetched from the Reed.co.uk API and are presented to the user in the deck of cards form. The selected jobs are saved on Firebase and fetched from there when the user requests to access them. Once the user selects appropriate job advertisements, they can come back and apply for them later.

RMHC provides vital resources and compassionate care to children and their families being served by leading hospitals worldwide. Core RMHC programs — Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room, and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile programs — provide access to health care and enable family-centered care. RMHC helped lessen the burden for millions of families in 2018. To fund these programs, they rely on charity. The RMHC Donation Boxes collect a dime here, a quarter there, but when millions of people across the U.S. drop change into a box at a McDonald’s Restaurant, it makes a big impact. The RMHC Donation Box program inside McDonald’s restaurants is their largest ongoing fundraiser. As you can imagine, these boxes and signs for the charity are on almost every table in every McDonald’s across the country. They also have the change collectors at every drive-thru window and in many other non-McDonald’s places. They had a large fulfillment issue, trying to pull in information for ordering and distributing donation boxes between 3 different ordering systems, and asked me to help. I created an eCommerce site that fulfills their charitable giving and signage in stores. I had to integrate everything that is in place on their website into easy-to-use and informative mobile apps: hundreds of vendor profiles, each including visual materials, reviews, blog mentions, details about catering, capacity, prices, and so on. I aimed to provide EventSource’s customers with an effective way to plan their special events with the best vendors and to the finest details.


Likewise, I integrated a large database of available vendors, each with several characteristics: their contacts, types of services, photographs and videos, special offers, awards, mentions in EventSource’s blog.


I added numerous filtering options for users to search for vendors and venues by keyword, event category, capacity, price, location, etc.


I used Google Maps API to enable location-based search and show each vendor on the map. For the map not to seem cluttered, I used powerful geo clustering techniques: several points on the map are combined into clusters as the user changes the scale.

The customer-facing app includes 3 tabs: Explore (to explore the offers), My vendors (to view and manage booked services), and Messages (to communicate with selected vendors). The app covers all the steps of the event planning process from finding suitable vendors to checking their details and from booking and chatting with them to reviewing the experience.

When browsing through lists of offers and checking out vendor profiles, users can add any offer to favorites or share it.

When a user books an offer, they get automatically transferred to My vendors.

Users can use the in-app real-time chat that supports attachments or move to the native calling feature from the app.

If a vendor is mentioned in the company’s blog, the app can redirect a user to relevant blog posts.

Vendor profiles include high-resolution photographs available for a 360 view and may feature videos collected from their YouTube or Vimeo accounts.

The app learns what types of events a user is interested in and what vendors they view and book to provide them with targeted recommendations.

Technical documentation.

Software requirements specification (SRS) will help young founders when raising the next round and employing their developers. They didn’t have any of that before.

Prototyping. The client provided me with initial wireframes to reflect the vision. I revised it and followed up with a clickable MVP. It is a crucial step that many startups skip, although it is a key part of the Discovery Phase. I showed the client how the system will look like and work before delivering the full web development service.

Mobile application development process. The prototype allowed us to gather valuable feedback and adapt the technical requirement and UI/UX design. Then, I proceeded to agile custom app development divided into 6 sprints over one and a half month.

The project was completed in less time than expected. The implementation of the tasks set at the beginning took less than 27 hours. The InnoWEEE goals

Increase the collection of WEEE by using smart bin and WebApp, information about the valorization of WEEE and EEE by regeneration and re-use of usable devices, and by recycling the materials that can be used again in the production cycle.


The InnoWEEE tackles an issue of general lack of awareness and knowledge about how to properly take care of electronic and electric waste.


The pilot study

One of the critical stages of the project was the evaluation of created interfaces. For this purpose, a pilot study was organized. It took place on 31.05.2019. It was a full-day workshop with activities related to electronic waste and ways to recycle and reuse it.


The goal was to test and evaluate created interfaces with real users and gather qualitative and quantitative data.

Project Challenge

A platform that makes it possible to share resources for online collaboration among multiple users of one organization.

Target group

People working remotely and online need access to their files and programs anytime, anywhere. They are mainly people working in project teams: company employees, freelancers, students.

Market research

The first stage was research around applications offering solutions for remote work. I wanted to find useful elements of the interface and create an application in which the user feels familiar from the first use.


Solution ideation

Horbito comes to your aid, offering virtual desktop directly in your web browser and a wide range of personalization options to suit your needs. In addition to storing files in the cloud, the service allows you to edit and share documents, communicate with the team and visualize specialized programs such as Photoshop, in a web browser. At the same time, it allows you to work together on documents. Horbito on PC version works on every modern web browser. The smartphone version is available for Android and iOS. The basic version of the application is free of charge and provides 15 GB of online space.


Initial market research

I tested many popular applications available on iOS for remote work (Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft One Drive, Slack). I selected elements that work similarly like landing pages, creating an account, settings, file sharing. Furthermore, I decided to make these elements of the prototype as close as possible to the standards present on the market.

Hypothesis/

There is no product on the market that allows access to files and programs from any computer and provides the functionality of a traditional operating system without the need to install additional software.


Inspiration and competition/

Application was inspired by services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft One Drive and iCloud. These services are available in Horbito, so they are not competitive. Rather, they expand the capabilities of Horbito by offering multiple Horbito solutions at the same time.


Prototype

The first prototype I created based on the knowledge about the applications currently available on the market. To enable interaction with the prototype, I used the Marvel app program. It is a website, which after uploading paper mock-ups allows adding interactions between application windows. Thanks to that I could revive the paper prototype and present it in the company.


The prototype was created as a Quick and Dirty mock-up. Its functionality includes the ability to create an account (also with the use of plugins for social networks) and a preview of the main submenus: Home, Cosmos, Files, Chat, and Settings. The menu is placed at the bottom of the screen in accordance with Apple's recommendations for iOS applications.

Project goal

An interactive platform collecting a set of good practices to encourage more female candidates for technical studies.


The name of the project is a word game that is based on the acronym of words representing the 4 fields of science:

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in short: STEM and the number 4 read in English (four read: for) Them, i.e., STEM for them: future female scientists; high school girls, future female students.


Vision

Knowing that the roots of the problem are much deeper than what we can reach, we tried to find a way to stay helpful.

That's why we focused on a specific target group, the group we can reach: former high school girls who have to choose what to do next. We started to ask ourselves what is the motivation to make decisions, how is it possible that there is such a gender gap in scientific fields. Of course, we couldn't do it ourselves, so we asked people who have already done it to help us (female STEM students, researchers, professors). Thanks to their input and many theoretical studies, we have narrowed the field of action.


Our efforts were aimed at helping young girls to better understand their capabilities, themselves, and not to let them lose the chance to choose a less frequented path, just because it is easier or there is not enough information at the moment. We wanted to integrate more and better people in key places, in their lives, with institutions that can help them make the right choices.


Interviews

The interviews were conducted with 12 people from different areas of the university: students, professors, employees of the Center for Gender Studies and Orientation Office.

We also contacted the organizers of the Girls Code IT project, which aims to promote coding skills among female students in high schools.

The focus group was conducted with the organizers of Girls Code IT to obtain as much information as possible, which could help in the implementation of the project.

Based on our findings, we have created the Red Map Routes. We have also selected 3 activities that have a different priority for our target group:

Most important activity: finding an optimal educational and professional path.

Intermediate activity: communicating with other people considering technical majors and careers in related areas.

Workshop

To test the hypothesis of STEM 4 them, a workshop was organized in which 8 female participants took part. It was also a chance to get acquainted with the target group, the face 2 face. Workshops were conducted at the university in the so-called Brainstorming Room, which is a room specially adapted to conduct training and research for people dealing with UX and UI. The advantage of the room is its unofficial character: there are comfortable sofas and poufs instead of benches with chairs. The walls are adapted for writing after them with special markers. In addition, there is a lot of stationery tools to use.

A growing taxi company asked me to develop a fast and reliable app that the customers would use seamlessly. I helped to revise the design and bring a high-potential project to reality. I had to implement both original UI and widely accepted UX. I analyzed competitors and presented several series of mock-ups to highlight the expertise of the client. Easy-to-navigate map. Based on the initial research, we redesigned the app from scratch to make user interaction with the map smooth and pleasant. Flexible routs. The Bucha needs to get that third-party logistics data for their salespeople so when they visit a venue, they have the latest ordering data and delivery information


CHALLENGE

The Bucha has rapidly grown. To meet the increasing demand for its products, it needed a better way to organize client records and target sales opportunities.

They needed a system to streamline the sales process and deliver a 360-degree view of each customer relationship.

Project Challenge

A platform that makes it possible to share resources for online collaboration among multiple users of one organization.

Target group

People working remotely and online need access to their files and programs anytime, anywhere. They are mainly people working in project teams: company employees, freelancers, students.

Market research

The first stage was research around applications offering solutions for remote work. I wanted to find useful elements of the interface and create an application in which the user feels familiar from the first use.


Solution ideation

Horbito comes to your aid, offering virtual desktop directly in your web browser and a wide range of personalization options to suit your needs. In addition to storing files in the cloud, the service allows you to edit and share documents, communicate with the team and visualize specialized programs such as Photoshop, in a web browser. At the same time, it allows you to work together on documents. Horbito on PC version works on every modern web browser. The smartphone version is available for Android and iOS. The basic version of the application is free of charge and provides 15 GB of online space.


Initial market research

I tested many popular applications available on iOS for remote work (Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft One Drive, Slack). I selected elements that work similarly like landing pages, creating an account, settings, file sharing. Furthermore, I decided to make these elements of the prototype as close as possible to the standards present on the market.

Hypothesis/

There is no product on the market that allows access to files and programs from any computer and provides the functionality of a traditional operating system without the need to install additional software.


Inspiration and competition/

Application was inspired by services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft One Drive and iCloud. These services are available in Horbito, so they are not competitive. Rather, they expand the capabilities of Horbito by offering multiple Horbito solutions at the same time.


Prototype

The first prototype I created based on the knowledge about the applications currently available on the market. To enable interaction with the prototype, I used the Marvel app program. It is a website, which after uploading paper mock-ups allows adding interactions between application windows. Thanks to that I could revive the paper prototype and present it in the company.


The prototype was created as a Quick and Dirty mock-up. Its functionality includes the ability to create an account (also with the use of plugins for social networks) and a preview of the main submenus: Home, Cosmos, Files, Chat, and Settings. The menu is placed at the bottom of the screen in accordance with Apple's recommendations for iOS applications.

The InnoWEEE goals

Increase the collection of WEEE by using smart bin and WebApp, information about the valorization of WEEE and EEE by regeneration and re-use of usable devices, and by recycling the materials that can be used again in the production cycle.


The InnoWEEE tackles an issue of general lack of awareness and knowledge about how to properly take care of electronic and electric waste.


The pilot study

One of the critical stages of the project was the evaluation of created interfaces. For this purpose, a pilot study was organized. It took place on 31.05.2019. It was a full-day workshop with activities related to electronic waste and ways to recycle and reuse it.


The goal was to test and evaluate created interfaces with real users and gather qualitative and quantitative data.

Project goal

An interactive platform collecting a set of good practices to encourage more female candidates for technical studies.


The name of the project is a word game that is based on the acronym of words representing the 4 fields of science:

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in short: STEM and the number 4 read in English (four read: for) Them, i.e., STEM for them: future female scientists; high school girls, future female students.


Vision

Knowing that the roots of the problem are much deeper than what we can reach, we tried to find a way to stay helpful.

That's why we focused on a specific target group, the group we can reach: former high school girls who have to choose what to do next. We started to ask ourselves what is the motivation to make decisions, how is it possible that there is such a gender gap in scientific fields. Of course, we couldn't do it ourselves, so we asked people who have already done it to help us (female STEM students, researchers, professors). Thanks to their input and many theoretical studies, we have narrowed the field of action.


Our efforts were aimed at helping young girls to better understand their capabilities, themselves, and not to let them lose the chance to choose a less frequented path, just because it is easier or there is not enough information at the moment. We wanted to integrate more and better people in key places, in their lives, with institutions that can help them make the right choices.


Interviews

The interviews were conducted with 12 people from different areas of the university: students, professors, employees of the Center for Gender Studies and Orientation Office.

We also contacted the organizers of the Girls Code IT project, which aims to promote coding skills among female students in high schools.

The focus group was conducted with the organizers of Girls Code IT to obtain as much information as possible, which could help in the implementation of the project.

Based on our findings, we have created the Red Map Routes. We have also selected 3 activities that have a different priority for our target group:

Most important activity: finding an optimal educational and professional path.

Intermediate activity: communicating with other people considering technical majors and careers in related areas.

Additional activity: online information about orientation practices for future technical students.

Workshop

To test the hypothesis of STEM 4 them, a workshop was organized in which 8 female participants took part. It was also a chance to get acquainted with the target group, the face 2 face. Workshops were conducted at the university in the so-called Brainstorming Room, which is a room specially adapted to conduct training and research for people dealing with UX and UI. The advantage of the room is its unofficial character: there are comfortable sofas and poufs instead of benches with chairs. The walls are adapted for writing after them with special markers. In addition, there is a lot of stationery tools to use.

Swiping left discards the job from the deck of cards whilst swiping right moved the job advertisement into a separate tab where the user can apply for it later. The user logs in through a third-party app using the Firebase authorization. Subsequently, the user selects the job title (or simply inserts the keywords) and enters the job specifications into the appropriate fields. The job advertisements are fetched from the Reed.co.uk API and are presented to the user in the deck of cards form. The selected jobs are saved on Firebase and fetched from there when the user requests to access them. Once the user selects appropriate job advertisements, they can come back and apply for them later.

Solution: a custom Shopify extension was written. The extension enables the buyer to enter their space measurements in square feet and the calculator figured out how many boxes are needed. The Bucha of Byron is a kombucha manufacturing and distribution company based in iconic Byron Bay, Australia

The company manufactures and distributes to over 5000 stores nationally

They have their own sales team on the road, along with having distribution agreements with third-party logistics companies

Clients order weekly or monthly and usually order via third-party logistics partners

The Bucha needs to get that third-party logistics data for their salespeople so when they visit a venue, they have the latest ordering data and delivery information


CHALLENGE

The Bucha has rapidly grown. To meet the increasing demand for its products, it needed a better way to organize client records and target sales opportunities.

They needed a system to streamline the sales process and deliver a 360-degree view of each customer relationship.

Management needed to have easier access to venue numbers, orders, and clients who were ‘at-risk

Sales reps needed to know, in real-time, when the venues had last ordered, what they ordered and what was the previous communication


SOLUTION

Data from third-party partners needed to be surfaced in Pipedrive

A telephony integration was required to ensure all communications, no matter whether phone, SMS, email, or marketing, are recorded inside Pipedrive

The number of venues each salesperson looks after needs to be increased so that the Bucha could continue to grow at pace without having to hire excessive staff

I had to integrate everything that is in place on their website into easy-to-use and informative mobile apps: hundreds of vendor profiles, each including visual materials, reviews, blog mentions, details about catering, capacity, prices, and so on. I aimed to provide EventSource’s customers with an effective way to plan their special events with the best vendors and to the finest details.


Likewise, I integrated a large database of available vendors, each with several characteristics: their contacts, types of services, photographs and videos, special offers, awards, mentions in EventSource’s blog.


I added numerous filtering options for users to search for vendors and venues by keyword, event category, capacity, price, location, etc.


I used Google Maps API to enable location-based search and show each vendor on the map. For the map not to seem cluttered, I used powerful geo clustering techniques: several points on the map are combined into clusters as the user changes the scale.

The customer-facing app includes 3 tabs: Explore (to explore the offers), My vendors (to view and manage booked services), and Messages (to communicate with selected vendors). The app covers all the steps of the event planning process from finding suitable vendors to checking their details and from booking and chatting with them to reviewing the experience.

When browsing through lists of offers and checking out vendor profiles, users can add any offer to favorites or share it.

When a user books an offer, they get automatically transferred to My vendors.

Users can use the in-app real-time chat that supports attachments or move to the native calling feature from the app.

If a vendor is mentioned in the company’s blog, the app can redirect a user to relevant blog posts.

Vendor profiles include high-resolution photographs available for a 360 view and may feature videos collected from their YouTube or Vimeo accounts.

The app learns what types of events a user is interested in and what vendors they view and book to provide them with targeted recommendations.

RMHC helped lessen the burden for millions of families in 2018. To fund these programs, they rely on charity. The RMHC Donation Boxes collect a dime here, a quarter there, but when millions of people across the U.S. drop change into a box at a McDonald’s Restaurant, it makes a big impact. The RMHC Donation Box program inside McDonald’s restaurants is their largest ongoing fundraiser. As you can imagine, these boxes and signs for the charity are on almost every table in every McDonald’s across the country. They also have the change collectors at every drive-thru window and in many other non-McDonald’s places. They had a large fulfillment issue, trying to pull in information for ordering and distributing donation boxes between 3 different ordering systems, and asked me to help. I created an eCommerce site that fulfills their charitable giving and signage in stores. To solve this challenge, the site has been based on the OceanWP template and beaver builder, although some things had to be hardcoded + Advanced Custom Fields plugin was added. A lot of things have been done on the front-end, I'm using esNext and template strings and also rest API to push some stuff to the front-end. Everything is configured for continuous deployment.
